I remember very well, all the way through my early life and into my twenties, whilst till living at home, my Mama flicking through varied fashion and other magazines and artists’ periodicals,. I would see and hear her ripping out some pages! There were her inspirations, or things she may have liked to create a painting composition from. After she passed in October 2021, we found a lot of said “ripped” pages, other selected pictures, postcards from Egypt (her country of birth), many unfinished works, drawings and paintings we had never seen. So much inspiration there. I have definitely inherited the “ripping” syndrome, and hopefully a little of her prodigious, amazing talent. I know in my heart she is guiding me. She loved what I painted – so encouraging, and how I was progressing, and that was so inspiring and affirming. Thank you Mama.
