Description
I never thought or wanted to draw or paint portraits. My late Mama was so good at giving the likeness and she received many commissions, and sold an abundance of paintings. A colleague suggested that I try. So I gave it a go. I started out with a pencil drawing, taken from the seminal work “Dynamic Anatomy” by Burne Hogarth, in 2017, whilst studying body anatomy. I was surprised as the sketch didn’t take very long. So portrait painting was launched! Several more ensued. Beginning only with pencil sketches, adding a little oil pastel for colour in the hair and lips, charcoal, then full colour acrylics and now oils. I draw inspiration from many sources, be it films, life, nature, paintings anything that jumps out to me, often accompanied by “I could paint that”. Mama was indeed pleased!
