“Mary Magdalene” (2),36 x 26 cm Oil Pastel.
A collector and loyal customer say there were 3 “Mary Magdalene” (MM) paintings and about the story behind the paintings. She (MM) is indeed a very special painting to me. I first painted her in dry pastels, which was sold to a dear friend last year, who on viewing had an instant connection. And then I decided to paint her in oil pastels. I have a long association with MM, having sung and been as Associate Artist of the then MM School of Wisdom in Manchester (now ceased) for many years. She blessed my beloved late Mama Renée’s house for a long while, and has been in mine until now it is sold and awaits collection from her new owner! As much as I love her, her expressions, everything Mary Magdalene exuded and continues to exude for those of us who believe She is the Church, She is the Holy Grail, She is the ultimate and consummate companion to Jesus (have you seen the incomparable series “The Chosen”? If not do). She is one of my most better portraits, and sad as I am to have her leave me, she is with me in Spirit, as all those beings who, being represented in physical form, ultimately leave us, remaining firmly within our beings, pouring out their compassion, love and empathy. She blesses you and assist any difficulties you may be encompassing in your life.
