“Cranes Love Dance at Mount Fuji, Japan”, oil on canvas 60x46cm
This painting 60×46 was commissioned by a dear friend, who loves anything Japanese. She has a Japanese ‘Zen-like’ garden and is practiced in the art of Bonsai. We consulted together, as to what elements she would like in her painting, with references to some of the Japanese artwork available on the internet, as well as nature photography of the region and photos of cranes. We came up with this composition. She loved it, and hangs proudly in her home. It was a very satisfying experience, consulting with a client in this way, and achieving exactly what they wanted. On an artistic level, I began with a little trepidation, although I had already accepted commissions, and as I started I found that the composition with my enthusiasm for the work replaced any nervousness.
