This was a painting especially my late Mama, Renée. Initially I had the idea to paint it and place it under weatherproof glass frame and screw to the wall in her very mignon, patio garden, which I lovingly tended and she enjoyed. She could no longer go out as her mobility was somewhat reduced – she loved going out, especially to the garden centres, and the art galleries. I not only brought the galleries to her, with creating her own, in her living room. We jointly rearranged her paintings, and she wanted some of mine there too! Having a seascape and landscape with far reaching views out across the ocean, would help expand her mental state, as well as being calming, imaginative and would speak to her of her journey onwards after her passing. We both decided that the painting may not weather well outdoor, and we found an ideal place above her fireplace, matching the vibrant colours of her living room – saffron and ruby red. We were all very well pleased, especially Mama. She would sit in her favourite armchair, with the painting pride of place. Thank you Mama for your inspiration.
