The Great Oriental Plane Tree (Deconstructed) (nfs)

Description

Specially curated for the Love North Chingford Arts Trail October 2026 on the theme of “Spaces”.  After pondering and sitting with the West Ogwell Church Graveyard work, although pleased with the work, the deconstructed part was not quite what I had imagined.  So I sat with the theme “Spaces” as a form of meditative internal inquiry, and after sketching various options, it was clear that this work would depict – of course – the spaces between the branches of the great tree. The negative spaces in fact. The monochrome was giving a nod and a bow not only to my Mama, Renée, but also to Matisse.  There are a couple of hidden animals in the work.
