Inspired by Renée Chatlani, my mother’s amazing drawing of what I have named “Aux Ballet” – reminiscent of Degas. This is pencil drawing of Renée’s oil painting, which I found on the internet – clearly bought from her many decades ago, owner unknown!
Inspired to take up the pencil! I was told many times by professional and proficient artists, that before you can paint you must learn to draw! I had drawn quite a bit in the late 1980s and then moved onto water colour then oil painting. I am learning, through copying some of my late Mama’s amazing drawings which she drew very early on in her younger days, in order to develop more focus, concentration, attention to detail and work on aspects of shading and likeness.
